British Isles
So much of American culture comes from the roots of Britain that is important to understand the history of how this island nation was founded.
Our lecture today will be about that history and has some interesting myths and legends such as King Arthur and the Round Table.
Our story begins in the time before the fall of the Roman Empire. Important work was done by Christian missionaries as many risked their lives to go to these pagan lands to bring the Word to them.
Pope Gregory was one. He adopted two children seized in a raid by Roman soldiers on British isles as Rome worked to conquer these near unconquerable people. He thought they looked like little angels and as they grew, Pope Gregory wanted to reach the people that his sons came from. He could not go himself because he was a pope, but he charged someone we have come to know well with the task - Saint Patrick. Yes, the same St. Patrick we celebrate each spring by wearing green. Know you will learn more than just green is associated with this man.
